What is Target Perfect Resistance™?
Simply speaking, Target Perfect Resistance™ (TPR™) is a method of exercise getting the maximum workout benefit with more efficient, and less, workout effort. It is the way you exercise, not the amount of exercise, that provides the maximum benefit to your body. The UltraFlex is the ultimate fitness device to achieve Target Perfect Resistance™.
What is the UltraFlex?
UltraFlex is a compelling new concept in exercise. UltraFlex is a resistance exercise device shaped like a bar or rod and is designed to bend end-to-end (think u-shape or teardrop) that provides resistance when you bend it (both when bent in and as it bends out). The resistance is variable; it starts at zero pounds of resistance when straight and resistance increases when fully bent. The amount of resistance is determined by which UltraFlex product is used and provides continuous resistance giving the user an effective workout. UltraFlex provides a unique form of resistance training. The exercise resistance is increased or decreased through range-of-motion adjustments, by changing hand position on the device, or by changing the body position while exercising. The UltraFlex resistance increases as the ends of the UltraFlex are brought together.
How does the UltraFlex work?
The body is made up of joints that interact with ligaments, tendons, and muscles (muscle group) to create motion. The body’s muscle groups biomechanically interact with each other. When one muscle group is stressed, the body will create the “path of least resistance” by using or recruiting other muscles to decrease the strain on the muscle being stressed. The UltraFlex exercise device is designed to target a specific muscle group and isolate it from other muscle groups thereby targeting that particular muscle and providing the maximum exercise benefit.
The UltraFlex allows each individual to exercise entire body including the upper body (arms, chest shoulder, back) as well as the body’s core (abdominal, oblique’s and lower back) and the lower body (buns and legs) to strengthen and develop a longer and leaner body.
Can the UltraFlex be used with other forms of exercise?
The UltraFlex simple design allows a variety of exercises to be performed. The instructions for using the UltraFlex™ are quick and simple to follow. UltraFlex™ can be effectively combined with aerobic programs such as walking, aerobics, Pilates, yoga and others. The UltraFlex effectively “turbo charges” other proven forms of exercise. For maximum benefit, UltraFlex™ exercise should be combined with some type of aerobic program like those mentioned.
Have there been any studies completed with the UltraFlex?
We commissioned a study at a local university to show how using the UltraFlex while walking would increase the number of calories burned. We started with a treadmill baseline of walking 3 miles per hour for 20 minutes, 3 females and 3 males. The baseline was recorded using VO2 Max methodology. With the baseline complete, we had the male and females subjects return a day later to begin walking at a 3 mile per hour pace, this time while performing upper body UltraFlex exercises. The results where impressive. The average increase of caloric expenditure for females was 53% and for men it was an astounding 71%.
We also commissioned a study to determine how changing body position for two of the UltraFlex exercises (bicep and abdominal) would increase muscle activation. In other words, is there really increased muscle activation from our beginning exercises to the advanced. For the bicep, the advanced move has 180% more bicep activation. For the abdominal, a whopping 233% increase in muscle activation.
What’s up with the 3 targets on the grips?
By “gripping up” to the next target you increase the amount of resistance for that exercise. You see, the UltraFlex grows with you, as you increase your muscle tone and strength, you can increase your resistance to keep improving. Now that is Target Perfect Resistance!
