ATTENTION
UltraFlexTM is for everyone. The exercises in this manual were designed to be performed from a standing, kneeling, prone, seated position or from a wheelchair.
You may reduce the risk of injury by holding the body in the proper position during the exercises. Safety is always essential in resistance training and the chance of injury can be dramatically reduced by following the instructions and warnings in this training manual. This responsibility is up to the individual performing the exercise. Prior to using the UltraFlexTM you must read this entire manual to learn how to position yourself and align your body so you can adjust to the forces applied by the UltraFlex. Feel the resistance and adjust your body to handle that resistance. As you go through the motion of each exercise you should concentrate on the muscles that you are exercising. You are the proud owner of an advanced exercise device. As the owner you must not let anyone use the UltraFlex unless they have read this complete manual. This will assist in avoiding injury to themselves and others.
Only apply force over the hand grips to bend the UltraFlexTM. Never bend the UltraFlexTM past the point where the two ends touch.
Do not cut, gouge or in any way attempt to remove the rubber exterior sheathing. Do not use the UltraFlexTM if the rubber exterior sheath is cut, gouged or if any of it has been removed.
Do not pull on only the wrist straps at any time.
If you ever feel pain or shortness of breath, stop exercising immediately.
If the wrist strap or handle ever wear out you must stop using the UltraFlexTM immediately until the parts are replaced and in good working order.
EFFECTS OF EXERCISE
Warning/Precautions
Read this entire manual prior to using your UltraFlexTM. Always wear shoes during your exercise session, ideally tennis shoes. Be certain to have a complete medical examination prior to engaging in any exercise program. Consult with your doctor prior to using the UltraFlexTM.
ALWAYS warm up prior to exercise and cool down after exercise. Be certain that you do not hold your breath during exercise.
Body fluids should be maintained. As you exercise you should replace the fluids that your body is sweating away. Spring water is excellent for hydration.
ALWAYS monitor your heart rate while exercising. Do not exceed your Maximal Heart Rate. Maintain your suggested TARGET HEART RATE during exercise. Your conservative target heart rate can be established with the following formula’s.
1. (220 minus your age) x 60%=Beginner Target Heart Rate
2. (220 minus your age) x 70%=Intermediate Target Heart Rate
3. (220 minus your age) x 80%=Advanced Target Heart Rate
Example: 220 minus 35 = 185 x 70% = 130 (Intermediate Heart Rate)
As with all exercise programs, check with your doctor as to any particular parts of the program or exercises contained within this owner’s/training manual that may be objectionable for your condition. Excessive or improper exercises may cause physical distress or injury. Know your limitations.
YOUR PROGRAM
Many of the exercises shown may be performed from a seated, standing or prone position.
Concentrate on the target muscles that you are exercising to maximize the benefits.
Be certain to keep your joints being exercised held in the proper position throughout the range of motion in each exercise. If you allow the joint to move out of position it could lessen the resistance to the muscle.
Keep tension on the muscles being exercised during the full set of repetitions.
WARNING
Read this manual prior to using your UltraFlexTM. Never allow a friend, family member or others to use the UltraFlexTM without their first reading owner’s manual and all contents.
Always have the UltraFlexTM under control when exercising. DO NOT TRY EXERCISES IN WHICH YOU CANNOT CONTROL BOTH ENDS OF THE ULTRAFLEX. Be certain that the safety strap at each end is securely around your wrist or controlled one way or another, example; step on strap or with strap around the foot and step on it. Put the end of the UltraFlexTM securely in the ankle strap.
NEVER intentionally or by accident bend the UltraFlexTM and snap it at anyone.
During exercise ALWAYS be certain to have your hands through the safety strap and gripping the rubber grips in your hand or one end in hand and the other on the floor with the wrist safety strap controlled by your foot or knee or in the ankle strap.
When exercising around others be certain to allow enough room to avoid hitting them with your UltraFlexTM.
NEVER use the UltraFlexTM in any other way except for the ways in which it is shown and described in this manual or other instructional materials provided with your UltraFlexTM.
